Overton Park’s new plaza begins at the intersection of Sam Cooper Blvd. and East Parkway. Its focal point is a massive sculptural archway composed of scrap bicycles and other artistic elements. The plaza is surfaced with pervious concrete, a sustainable material that allows water to seep through into the ground rather than running off.
Cyclist- and pedestrian-friendly features include benches, a water fountain, and recycling receptacles. The plaza links to a new trail that connects directly to the Old Forest State Natural Area, eliminating the need to ride or run through the grass.
