Updates to shuttle schedule

Overton Square shuttleWe’d like to thank everyone who rode with us during the first weekend of the Overton Park / Overton Square shuttle! We were glad to have the opportunity to test-drive this service and see how to make it run most efficiently.  The run from the Square to the park was quick and comfortable, with each bus making the full loop in about 15 minutes.

We listened to your feedback and have made a couple of changes to the service:

  • The shuttles will now run from 11:00a.m. to 6:30p.m., with the last bus entering Overton Park at 6:15p.m. This allows us to accommodate the final departures from the zoo, which closes at 6:00.
  • We’ll be using buses that have rear cargo holds, so you can bring your strollers and wagons. This slightly reduces the ridership capacity of each bus, but we know how many of you are bringing your families, and we want to make sure you’re able to get where you need to go with all your belongings.

We’re also excited to announce that FedEx is offering the use of one of its corporate shuttles during our Day of Merrymaking event on Saturday, June 7. So we’ll have three shuttles running that day to accommodate what we expect will be a big, energetic crowd.

We look forward to seeing your smiling faces on the shuttle this weekend! If you’d like to volunteer with us and direct drivers to the shuttle, let us know your availability here or email [email protected].)

We’d love to suggest a great way to spend your Saturday:
9:45 AM: Park at the Overton Square garage and walk over to the Playhouse on the Square Cafe.
10:00 AM: Spend some time checking out concept designs for making Overton Park more bike- and pedestrian-friendly at our public meeting.
11:30 AM: Grab an early lunch at one of Overton Square’s many wonderful restaurants.
12:30 PM: Hop aboard the shuttle and spend your afternoon enjoying the zoo, Brooks Museum, or the park.

Your weekend planning?  Done!

Thank you to all those who have supported the shuttle either financially or with their ridership and volunteer hours.  You’re helping us make creative solutions happen!
