Categories: Events
Mid-South Food Bank invites runners and walkers to fight hunger at the Miles for Meals 5k, Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Overton Park. The event features both a 5k run and a two-mile fun run/walk. The goal is to raise the equivalent of 65,000 meals to support Mid-South Food Bank’s efforts to fight hunger through its partner food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, youth programs, senior programs and more in 31 Mid-South counties.
Entry fees are $25 per person or $20 per person for teams of 10 or more. The entry fee includes a Miles for Meals 5k t-shirt, food and beverages and other goodies. Runners and walkers are encouraged to collect pledges for additional meals. One dollar equals two meals. One mile equals 16 meals. Anyone who completes the course will have donated 50 meals. A group of 10 equals 400 meals.
